From Google News Search: "Wrecking yard" can I get a salvage bid from a wrecking yard online for a total loss vehicle? Q. I am an independent appraiser dealing with automotive claim for insurance companies. I work late and sometimes need to obtain 3 salvage bid on total loss vehicle. to upload my work in a timely fashion I would like to be able to go on a web site for this information insted of calling wrecking yards the next day. Thank you all. I do use IAA and Copart depending on the insurance company I'm working for. Some company do pay for these services and some do not. There is monthly fee involved for these services. Asked by murray_toby - Fri Nov 3 16:59:22 2006 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. I work for a major auto insurance company as an adjuster. We send all of our vehicles to IAA. It might not be as accurate as calling, but you should be able to get a pretty good approximation of a vehicle's salvage value online at their salvage analysis site. There are about 25 different classes of damage, and the option to look at pictures to get a better idea of the true salvage value. All you need is a year, make, model, and general description of the damage (left side, rollover, flood, etc.) and it will give you the average salvage sale amount for all matching vehicles within the last year. I dispatch IAA to pick vehicles up through their website as well. I don't know if it costs anything, as if it is, my company pays for it. The place is called Potomac European and they have a toll free number (1-800-275-4405). If the customer has 68-71 280 SE & SL, 72-89 450, 480, 380, 500, 90-98 300, 320,500, 60-99 220D, 240D, 300D, TD,300SDL E, 300D-TD, 81-91 280, 380, 500, 560 SEL & SEL Coupe, 92-99 S 320,420,500,600 there is a "parting out M-B" ad with an email address of martinito-motors.com and a phone number (305)751-4741 which may or may not be helpful. Q. I have a 98 nissan altima with a blown motor. should I buy a used engine/tranny from Japan. There is a local business here that imports them and sells them with a one year warranty. they claim they have 30,000 to 60,000 miles on them. Or should I buy from the local yard its got 80,000 with a six month warranty. Prices are a wash so im more interested in what would be the best investment. just to clarify the japan motor is sold from a local business. they have it in stock and do take returns if necessary they are 200 more. I just wonder if someone fwould maintain a car that they know must have a motor replacement in a couple of years Asked by Paul V - Thu Mar 5 21:44:41 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. I have installed one of the engines from overseas in a customers car. No problems what so ever. There are some goofy laws in some country's over seas that wont allow a engine with over a certain number miles on it to be used any longer. I believe its an emissions thing. So they are good running engines. Answered by dscorsica - Thu Mar 5 22:24:53 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Wrecking yard" Gearz: Fun
