What can I do so that the wrecking yard will release a license plate?
Q. Basically I was in a accident with my brothers car and its now at a towing companies lot,a letter came in the mail from the DMV and they want the license plate and registration sticker due to lack of insurance...the car is registered to my brother but hes currently in jail, is there anyway I can get the towing company to release the plate and sticker to me to avoid any further fines??? Any advice helps...thanks

A. Not too sure about sony's policy on this one, you will need to contact them. Sometimes it is a combination of buttons on the head unit and remote. Or you can sit there and go through the numbers one at a time. I have done this several times.

Train wreck yard in central Florida area or even within the United States?
Q. I'm looking for some old train items like road signs or train pieces or rail. I've tried finding somethings online but I can't find an actual place where I can go and walk about. Anyone have any ideas where I can find a car junk yard for trains? Have tried ebay but the few things I've purchased have not been what they were said to be. I want somewhere I can poke about and actually see the itemto make sure it is real.

Can i sell a vehicle to a wrecking yard without current registration in California?
Q. I have a vehicle that won't pass smog and the registration has lapsed. The car's not worth the cost of repairs / registration so i'm thinking about taking it to an auto wrecker (like pick'n'pull) and selling it for whatever they'll give me. Do i have to scrap the title or make the registration current first? Can i just show up at the wrecker with the auto and the title? What's my best bet?

Q. I used to live at my local Pick-A-Part. At my local salvage yards there is nothing newer than a 1994/5. I have a 2001 Sentra and I need a driver side mirror. I see brand new cars totaled all the time. What do they do with them? I just want one of their mirrors.

What is my wrecked car worth to an auto salvage yard?
Q. My 1994 Dodge Intrepid was in prefect running condition, I was in my car at the traffic light when I was rear-ended and the car was totaled out. Now I have to get rid of it and thought an auto salvage yard might want it for parts. But I don't know what to sell it for. Does anyone have any idea? The Salvage yards are in a rural area of Louisiana. Please help. Oh yes, it has about 170,500 miles on it.

A. I wouldn't expect anything for it. I know that in the area I live in or further into the country/ quebec there are a lot of mechanics who own garages and buy cars just like this to fix up and resell. I would go try and find something like that first since they may give you upwards of 300-500 for it. You would need to cover towing though if they don't have their own truck. How can I remove a door lock/handle assembly from a car?
Q. The passenger car door lock on my car (1991 Mazda 626) is broken. A locksmith said that I would have to replace the door handle and lock together, and that the best place to get a replacement was a wrecking yard. Calling several wrecking yards indicated that if I wanted to get such an item from their yard, I would have to remove it from the car myself. I do not know how to do this. Any suggestions?

A. A bit complicated, you must remove the inner door trim panel to access nuts to remove door handle. Bring a flashlight. There are also plastic clips that hold the lock and handle rods. Be extra careful removing them because hard to find replacements. Take out the assembly, then you can replace the lock. You will have to get the replacement lock re-keyed by a locksmith to work with your key. Do this before installing in your car.

Where can I find a motor for the drivers seat of my 1994 Chrysler Concord?
Q. The motor on the drivers seat that makes the seat go back and forth is going out and they don't make them anymore and I've even called a wrecking yard and they don't have one either. It's a 1994 Chrysler Concord Sedan. And is it possible to take off the seats motor and make it manual to where it goes back and forth on a track manually like the passenger seat does?

A guy at the wrecking yard told me that It is best to just get a new one because for some reason he says you cant get the used ones to seal up good easily. Is this true ? A. Lots who have camper shells especially will have the stock window taken out and the sliding window put in its place. If you go to the glass shop and ask they may have a perfectly good used one that they can put in for you at less than the price of a new one.
