Is it worth it to take a job as a funeral planning counselor sales job?
Q. I currently work in a fast food type of management job. I was wondering if it was worth it to leave it for a funeral planning counselor sales job?

A. Yes it's a good job. You are NOT dealing with grieving people as several posters have said. You are dealing with the healthy ones who are estate planning. And you don't need to sell them up to make a good living. Just show them the available options and even if they take the cheapest selections or even cremation you can make a good living.

Is it worth getting a premium membership to International Pool Tour for the video library access?
Q. I'm still working on what to get my brother for Christmas. He is really into pool, and he's in a league. He is winning a lot of games. People have made lots of good suggestions, and one is to get him instructional DVD's. Is it worth just getting him a two month membership (among other things) to International Pool Tour for their instructional DVD library? Thanks!

A. I suggest giving your brother a book instead --> Byrne's Complete Book of Pool Shots: 350 Moves Every Player Should Know. Robert Byrne is a hall-of-famer and a master teacher in the pool industry. The book contains 20 categories of pool shots (from tickys to double-kisses, and from jump shots to diamond systems). Some secret shots that only the pool professionals know are revealed in this book. This book is by far, the best book I've ever read about pool/billiard. No matter how good your brother is already, I guarantee his game will improve further. My game improved from level 1 to level 5 (10 being the highest) and I only have time to play once-a-week. It's definitely worth it! Caveat: The book does not seem to be available… [cont.]

What kind of toy cars are worth collecting?
Q. I want to buy a toy car for my nephew, he collects those cars that are like 1:15 scale or something around there. Are there brands, etc that are worth buying more than others? Treasure chest? Like a little picture on the box? Any cars that are larger than those?
Asked by Aaron C - Mon Aug 20 14:29:46 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Collect what you like first and foremost. Don't just go after the chase or HTF cars. I have been collecting diecast cars (Hot Wheels, Johnny Lightning, Jada, Maisto, and others) for 11+ years now. Just looking for the HTF cars will only make you dislike the hobby. The treasure chest cars, White Lightnings, and other chase cars are very limited in production. Finding them on the pegs is very rare. If you need any mroe info please come by www.diecastsplus.com and have a look around. We talk all types of diecast there.

Worth is an ambiguous word which can mean value, but can also refer to merit or excellence.

  • To be nameless in worthy deeds exceeds an infamous history.
  • You can calculate the worth of a man by the number of his enemies, and the importance of a work of art by the harm that is spoken of it.
  • The way in which a man accepts his fate and all the suffering it entails, the way in which he takes up his cross, gives him ample opportunity — even under the most difficult circumstances — to add a deeper meaning to his life. It may remain brave, dignified and unselfish. Or in the bitter fight for self-preservation he may forget his human dignity and become no more than an animal. Here lies the chance for a man either to make use of or to forgo the opportunities of attaining the moral values that a difficult situation may afford him. And this decides whether he is worthy of his sufferings or not.
  • In all our noble Anglo-Saxon language, there is scarcely a nobler word than worth; yet this term has now almost exclusively a pecuniary meaning. So that if you ask what a man is worth, nobody ever thinks of telling you what he is, but what he has. The answer will never refer to his merits, his virtues, but always to his possessions. He is worth — so much money.
    • Richard Fuller, reported in Josiah Hotchkiss Gilbert, Dictionary of Burning Words of Brilliant Writers (1895), p. 623.
