How many yards of cloth does it take to cover all human beings on earth who wear sewn clothing?
Q. Would you say that with an estimate of 6 billion human beings (I really don't know the current estimate) and an average allotment of 25 yards of cloth per person that a figure of 150 billion yards of cloth would be a reasonable guess?

A. Depends on the width of the fabric, but a long sleeved shirt and pants would be about 5-6 yards for most people, plus another yard for underwear. let's say 8 oz/sq yard for an average weight of cotton fabric, and assume 60" wide fabric, which would give us a weight of 15 oz per linear yard... let's bump that up to 1 lb per linear yard. Your 25 yard estimate would have us wearing around 20 lbs of clothing, assuming cutting waste. My 6-7 yard estimate would have us with about 5 lbs of clothes. I believe the guesstimation usually used at doctor's offices is to subtract about 7 lbs for shoes and clothes.
